Amoralia Nursing and Maternity Lingerie Review

Me and nursing bras have a complicated relationship - all my favourite nursing bras from when I was feeding Lara are dumpy. Comfy but certainly not elegant. I keep trying to resist comfy... I want to do sexy but sexy almost certainly means uncomfortable, doesn't it? Perhaps not. I was lucky enough to be given the chance to review the Cupcake nursing bra and briefs from maternity and nursing lingerie specialist, Amoralia London.

When you browse the Amoralia website you'll notice that all of the nursing bras have a great balance between sexy and functional. I chose the Cupcake bra because it looked as if it would be really comfy (I was right!) and not toooo fancy. It still looked incredibly feminine.

Since it arrived, the Cupcake nursing bra has become my absolute favourite - it really is very comfy to wear which is why I don't just save it for special occasions. When I first tried it, I really felt like I'd gained some of 'me' back and that I wasn't simply a milk machine. The briefs really help to bring that feeling home - together they make me feel good about myself.

The Cupcake bra comes in a few different colours, all a little out of the ordinary. The drop cups have a very easy clip and each cup has a soft support at the front as well as some quite firm support at the sides of your chest.

The briefs have a soft, flexible waistband so they are ideal for wearing under a big bump (or under a slowly shrinking post-baby bulge! Just like the bra, it looks lacey but the lining is a really soft fabric so it doesn't feel rough against your skin. The ensemble certainly gets Mr. B's approval too.

You can find Amoralia London on Facebook and Twitter where there are special offers and competitions as well as lots of breastfeeding and fashion talk.

Cake Maternity & Nursing Lingerie - Plum Pudding

cake maternity nursing bra
It has come to the time in my pregnancy when I need to start thinking about maternity lingerie and nursing lingerie because my early pregnancy lingerie simply doesn't fit any more. The very first place I thought of looking was lingerieplease because I knew they stocked one of my favourite brands - Cake Maternity.

I was looking for something incredibly sexy and yet comfy during these later stages of pregnancy so I went for the Plum Pudding nursing bra and matching briefs which are currently on offer so that if you buy the bra (also reduced in price in their sale) then you can get the briefs for half price.

Lingerieplease have a wide range of maternity bras from the totally functional to the really sexy. Most of their maternity bras are also in fact nursing bras so they are great after birth too (although you may need a different sized bra in the weeks just before and after birth).

cake maternity plum pudding lingerie briefThe Cake Maternity Plum Pudding bra is a full-cup underwired nursing bra. The wire is a flexible one so suitable for use during pregnancy and when breastfeeding. the deep red colour is very feminine and the fabric is soft with a slightly silky touch. I found the feeding clip to be instinctive to use and easy to release.

The Plum Pudding brief is a low-rise square-cut shape designed to sit just below your bump. I found the thick waistband to sit a little high on me at present so it curled under the bump but the briefs were very soft and the lacy pattern extremely flattering. I think the set looks amazing together and is incredible value for money right now.

Bravado Body Silk Seamless Nursing Bra Review

When I reached the end of my first trimester, I lifted out all of my old maternity and nursing bras and came to the worrying realisation that most of them no longer fit me. Bravado sent me one of their very festive poppy red Body Silk Seamless Nursing Bras to review - incredibly good timing for which I am very grateful as it is the best nursing bra I've tried to date.

The fabric of the bra is really flexible - bouncy I'd say more than soft. When I wear it, the bra seems pretty much unnoticeable through my clothes and there are two handy inserts to smooth things out if you happen to be wearing breast pads (which can often cause things to look a bit lumpy). Because it is so flexible I think the bra will cope well as my body shape changes in the last trimester of pregnancy and then after the birth.

Although I haven't yet put the nursing clips to a real test, they seem very sturdy and strong but not difficult to release. I barely notice the clips and their supports right now but if you do want to transform the bra into a non-nursing bra after you stop breast-feeding then Bravado provide a nifty conversion kit which allows you to remove the nursing clips and the supporting straps permanently.

I can understand why people would want to convert this bra after they have stopped nursing - it is easy to become attached to a piece of lingerie as comfortable as this. To top it off, its also pretty stylish while still being practical. I love this bright red colour and Bravado also occasionally do limited edition colours as well as the standard black, white and nude colours.

For a non-underwired bra I am really impressed by the level of support that the Body Silk bra provides. My only negative comment is that I found the sizing a little complicated - I'm a fan of traditional bra sizes and of UK dress sizes and it frustrates me to have to map to proprietary sizing charts.

Cake Maternity Bra and Lingerie Review

Today's guest review comes from Hayley from Bracknell who is mum to a two-year-old and is expecting her second child in November. Hayley has been reviewing Cake maternity lingerie from lingerieplease.co.uk.

We Love...

We tried two different sets of maternity bras and briefs by Cake Lingerie. The quality of the fabric on both sets was really impressive and they are certainly a different to my current M&S ones!

The lingerie sets are both really good looking and a lot prettier than the nursing bras that I have just got out of the loft from my first pregnancy.

The bras are easy to unclip when needed for nursing and I would also be happy wearing them throughout pregnancy.

The maternity briefs are really comfortable, they look great and are great quality. I've never worn a dedicated maternity brief before so they felt like a little bit of luxury - perhaps a bit of an extravagance but a must-have if you want a great-looking matching set. The briefs are lowered at the front to accommodate your bump.

We'd Prefer It If...

... the sizes were a little more consistent. I found the sizes to be very different to my existing bras and the sizes even differed between the two bras from the same Cake Lingerie brand.
