Personalised Jewellery for Mum from Kaya

My two girls really spoiled me on Mothers day with hand-made cards and gifts but a couple of days later, a very special Mother's day gift arrived in the post from Kaya Jewellery - a personalised family tree pendant.

Tucked away in this tempting little presentation box is a personalised silver pendant made especially for me to celebrate being a Mum!

Kaya Jewellery make and deliver a wide range of beautiful Mum jewellery as well as personalised jewellery gifts for babies and children. From christening bracelets to eternity necklaces, if I had the cash, I'd order a whole host of pendants and bracelets and charms for me and my two daughters.

I was most taken by Kaya's Tree of Life and Family Tree pendants which both feature tree designs in a circular silver pendant.

This Family Tree Necklace captures the magic of my family perfectly.  It is made from Sterling Silver and can be ordered with three different lengths of chain.  The pendant is about 1 inch in diameter and can be engraved with upto 6 names of your choice (there is a character limit) to truely personalise it to your family.  I think this is a really treasured gift that, when I wear it, will remind me of my family at all times - it makes me proud to be Mummy!

As Kaya hand make their jewellery to order, you can expect a few days between ordering and receipt of your personalised gift but mine was super quick and it is definitely worth the wait.  I'm now very tempted to order a similar pendant for each of the girls as a special Easter gift.  If you are on the lookout for matching Mum and Daughter jewellery (or even for three generations) then Kaya make bracelet and necklace sets specifically designed to be worn by multiple generations.

MyStyle Craft Design & Make Shamballa Fire Jewellery Kit Review

Lara recently received this MyStyle Craft Design & Make Shamballa Fire Jewellery kit to review and she has been totally absorbed in it.  The kit is available from Tesco for £12.99 and it includes the materials you will need to make two different necklaces, two bracelets and a pair of earrings in the Shamballa style.

The Shamballa Fire Jewellery set features a re-usable craft box which includes knotting cord, Shamballa beads, sparkly beads, earring wires and necklace attachments.  The Tesco website recommends this jewellery making kit for children from 3-4 years so I had expected it to be well-targeted for Lara (age 4.5) but in fact it was very tricky.  I spent an entire evening making this simple knotted bracelet... there is simply no way that a 4 year old would have the dexterity, attention to detail or attention span needed to make the bracelet.

That said, Lara did manage these earrings with only a little help from her Daddy to make the spirals a little tighter.  She very much enjoyed choosing the beads and threading them onto the wire.

This MyStyle Craft Design & Make set comes with a 16 page colour guide that walks you through the steps needed to make your own jewellery.  I found the instructions very easy to follow, including the detailed pictures that show you how to make the knots.  I found it tricky to thread the cord onto the Shamballa beads because it frayed easily.  Once again, I think the instructions and the threading are more suited to an early teen than a younger child.

I think this craft set presents good value because of the materials provided and the life-long skills that you will learn.  Equipped with Shamballa knotting skills you could take on the world!

Mama Jewels Review : Jewellery Designed For Mum With Baby In Mind

lara mummy and mama jewels

Last week at Cybermummy I wore my Mama Jewels limited edition breastfeeding necklace and it got lots of interest and great compliments. My long-length Indian Summer Grey and Pink nursing necklace has a heart pendant and looks stunning against a plain single-colour top.

The necklace, like most of Mama Jewels' products, is designed specifically for the nursing mother. The beads are chunky and although they look tempting for tiny hands to grab, the beads have been tested to make sure that they can't be ripped off by naughty babies or toddlers. The necklace is made from a subtle silver coloured thread which is resilient to grabbing and chomping (something Lara seems to do more of, the older she gets).

The beads are all washable, non-toxic and sterilisable so that you need not worry if your child does choose to chomp or suck on your necklace.

I really like my Mama Jewels necklace. I so rarely get a new necklace (about one every 10 years at present!) so this has been a really special treat for me and so I can quite honestly say that it would make a wonderful gift for any new mum or mum to be. Its great to have something for you, rather than for your baby and yet not feel like you're taking a risk by using it.

My necklace from Mama Jewels was beautifully presented in a presentation box as smart as any piece of jewellery of any cost that I've ever owned.

If you take a look through the Mama Jewels website you'll see a whole range of gorgeous jewellery in loads of different styles and colours. Mama Jewels also stocks necklaces specifically designed for teething babies, pregnancy bola necklaces, fingerprint jewellery, personalised jewellery and breastfeeding reminder necklaces along with a whole range of other non-jewellery gift ideas for new mums and dads.
