Children's Book Review :: Doodle Spots, Stripes and Squiggles

Over the Easter holidays we will be visiting a few friends and family; I always like to take a few colouring pencils and a colouring book with us when we are taking to girls to visit people who might not have children - it means that I always have on hand some emergency entertainment!  This new doodle book from Parragon is a great book for me to have on hand as it is suitable for both Lara and Holly.  Doodle Stripes, Spots and Squiggles is packed full of drawing and colouring activities for children from age 3-7.

Doodle Spots, Stripes and Squiggles is more than just a colouring book.  Each page or double-page has a bold picture or pattern on it.  Some have words with activities, others just have enough drawn on the page to encourage your child to get drawing.  Lara particularly enjoys finishing off patterns at present and these are her favourite pages.

For younger children the pictures are a chance to scribble or colour in on bright coloured pages.  For older children the patterns and activity prompts are the invitation in for a complex doodle or a pretty pattern.  You can dip in and out of this book which is why it is great for keeping in your bag for when travelling.

Holly enjoys using it simply as a colouring book, she does also enjoy trying to copy her sister by colouring in patterns and I think it will be a great way of her learning pen control.

Doodle Spots, Stripes and Squiggles is a nice thick paperback book and it will provide us still with many more hours of entertainment.  The book is published by Parragon books.
