Disney on Ice Magical Ice Festival

Yesterday we took the girls to Wembley Arena to see Disney on Ice, Magical Ice Festival.  We've seen a few Disney on Ice performances in the past but I have to say I think this was our favourite to date.

75% of the show had very little to do with a Magical Ice Festival at all, but we didn't mind one bit.  The show featured some really nice long performances from The Little Mermaind, Tangled, Beauty and the Beast and, of course, Frozen.

We all really enjoyed the show, not just the girls.  Mr. B. and I most like the impressive group dances which feature amazing outfits, perfectly-choreographed ice dance routines and lots of people on the rink at any one time all dancing to a well-known Disney song.  The girls, of course, most enjoyed "Let it Go" which was one of the final masterpieces of the show featuring a sparkly snowflake centre-piece, fireworks and snow falling from the ceiling.

The show is popular with both boys and girls and there were lots of people dressed up as Olaf, Elsa and Anna.

If you've never been to a Disney on Ice performance before then I really recommend this one which features lots of stunning group dances and Frozen sing-along songs.  Disney On Ice presents Magical Ice Festival is appearing across the UK in Cardiff from the 29th April - 3rd May, Nottingham from the 7th-10th May and Leeds from the 13th - 17th May. Click here for ticket details and show times. Tickets are on sale NOW.

Disney On Ice Magical Ice Festival Preview

This weekend we are taking the girls to Wembley Arena for a very special even - the 2015 Disney on Ice extravaganza which features Anna and Elsa from Frozen.  The latest Disney on Ice live show is the Magical Ice Festival - lots of icy fun with all of the magic, drama and theatre of Disney set on ice to add a magical feel and to make the Frozen story really come to life.

Lara and Holly are massive fans of the hit movie, Frozen and they are very much looking forward to dressing up in their own Anna and Elsa dresses for a magical evening at Wembley.  We have attended a couple of Disney on Ice shows and always find them truly breathtaking - the girls get totally swept away in the music and glamour and like to clap along and sing when they know the words.

The Disney on Ice Magical Ice Festival features lots of other favourite Disney characters as well as Frozen.  Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse guide fans through a wintery wonderland where they encounter Sebastian and the Daughters of Triton from Disney’s The Little Mermaid, the rowdy pub thugs from Disney’s Tangled and the loyal enchanted servants from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

But I think that the special guest appearances of Anna and Elsa from Frozen are really going to steal the show. We are looking forward to a journey up the North Mountain with Olaf the snowman, Kristoff and his cuddly reindeer Sven.  If it is anything as good as the Disney on Ice retelling of Tangled in previous years, then I know it's going to be awesome.

Disney On Ice presents Magical Ice Festival is appearing across the UK in London from the 23rd to 26th April, Cardiff from the 29th April - 3rd May, Nottingham from the 7th-10th May and Leeds from the 13th - 17th May. Click here for ticket details and show times. Tickets are on sale NOW.

Disney on Ice 100 Years of Magic, A Review

This weekend we took the girls for a very magical Christmas treat to see Disney on Ice, 100 Years of Magic at the O2 arena in London.  When Lara and Holly realised where we were taking them a great big smile broke out across their faces - Disney on Ice has now become a bit of a family tradition and we all love it, not just the girls.

The 100 years of magic show celebrates 100 years of Disney classic movies and features lots of favourite Disney characters.  From Aladdin & Pinocchio to Nemo & Mulan.  From Toy Story to Beauty and the Beast.  The show features loads of different family favourites so it has a wide appeal for adults and children and it was great to see a bit of excitement to balance the princess-factor!

As we have come to expect from Disney on Ice events, the souvenirs and food on offer are all very pricey but we did notice that the prices had dropped a little this year (and we came well prepared with our own snacks and drinks).  If you are planning a family visit and want to make it into a really magical affair then there is the opportunity to buy Disney princess dolls, plush toys, glow in the dark accessories and clothing featuring your favourite Disney characters.

The show features skaters performing beautiful routines and some cleverly choreographed group dances.  The costumes of the non-human characters such as Nemo and Dory from Finding Nemo are all stunning.  I loved watching Pinnocchio and Gepetto being eaten by the whale (though I'm not sure Holly would agree).

Lara most enjoyed watching Belle and the Beast which was certainly one of the most romantic and traditional ice skating routines in the show.  Holly most enjoyed watching Woody, Buzz and Jessie perform a Toy Story dance.  The middle part of the show featured a beautiful number set to "It's a small world after all" which may have been a bit lost on anybody who has never visited a Disney park but the dance included stylized costumes from all over the world - the blue and white outfits were all beautiful and we loved the sparkly Christmassy lights which reminded me of the traditional Disney parades I'd expect to see at a Disney park.

The exciting news is that this spring, the starts from Frozen will come to Disney on Ice.  From the 11th of March to the 17th May, Disney on Ice Magical Ice Festival will be touring the country from Aberdeen all the day down to London. Tickets are on sale now.

Disclosure: We were sent the tickets for the show so that we could conduct a review.

Disney On Ice presents Magical Ice Festival - Including Frozen on Ice

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am at today's news that the 2015 Disney on Ice extravaganza will feature Anna and Elsa from Frozen.  Today saw the launch of the tickets for Disney on Ice presents Magical Ice Festival with lots of icy fun with all of the magic, drama and theatre of Disney combined with all of your favourite Disney characters.

We have attended a couple of Disney on Ice shows and always find them truely magical - the girls get totally swept away in the music and glamour.  This year, Lara and Holly are massive fans of the hit movie, Frozen and even simply showing them the photos from the press release of the Magical Ice Festival left them speechless.

The Disney on Ice Magical Ice Festival isn't simply a retelling of the Frozen story on ice, there are lots of other favourite Disney characters too.  Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse guide fans through a winsome wonderland where they encounter Sebastian and the Daughters of Triton from Disney’s The Little Mermaid, the rowdy pub thugs from Disney’s Tangled and the loyal enchanted servants from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

But I think that the special guest appearances of Anna and Elsa from Forzen are really going to steal the show. If you're in the audience next spring you will journey up the North Mountains with the hilarious snowman Olaf, rugged Kristoff and lovable reindeer Sven as they help the sisters along the way in a story full of action, adventure, magic and unforgettable characters.

Disney On Ice presents Magical Ice Festival is appearing across the UK from 11th March - 17th May 2015 in Aberdeen, Liverpool, Glasgow, Birmingham, London, Cardiff, Nottingham and Leeds. Click here for ticket details and show times. Tickets are on sale from today!

Disney on Ice presents Worlds of Fantasy Preview

Having enjoyed our first ever Disney on Ice experience this Christmas, both Holly and Lara can't wait to see the next Disney on Ice extravaganza coming this spring - Worlds of Fantasy.

Disney On Ice presents Worlds of Fantasy is an ice-show for Disney lovers which features some Disney favourites including Cars, Toy Story 3 and The Little Mermaid as well as Tinker Bell’s mystical world. Mickey and Minnie mouse host the show and introduce each of the different worlds of adventure.

Disney on Ice - Worlds of Fantasy looks like it has something for everyone (and probably isn't as girly as the show we went to see over Christmas) so it should appeal to the whole family.  I am particularly looking forward to seeing these full-sized cars take to the ice and I'm intrigued to see how they work.  Lara is most looking forward to seeing Woody and his friends from the magical world of "Andy's Room"

Disney on Ice Review

This weekend I took the girls to see Disney on Ice - Dare to Dream. This year's Disney on Ice festive extravaganza.  I really wish I could have captured the look of awe on both Lara and Holly's face when the show started it went a bit like "Oh my goodness, there is actual Mickey Mouse and actual Minnie Mouse skating on an ice rink".

Both girls had an amazing time; I think they were in the minority in that we hadn't dressed them up in Disney princess costumes!  Lara sat on the edge of her seat for the entire Dare to Dream show.  She clapped, and shouted and loved every minute.  Even Holly got into the swing of things and could be seen bopping and clapping along to the music.

I thought the story telling in Disney on Ice was brilliant.  We saw the skaters perform part of Princess and the Frog, Snow White and quite a bit of the Cinderella story with characters true to their Disney representations.  Much of the second half of the show was a re-telling of the Tangled story of Rapunzel which is Lara's all time favourite movie.  The effects were amazing and even I was left gobsmacked by the ice-skating rope trapeze antics of Flynn Rider and Rapunzel in the ribbons of dangling hair.

For both me and Lara the finale was the most impressive as all of the Disney princesses featured alongside Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy.  It was all very sparkly and fun.

I was very impressed by Disney on Ice - I felt the tickets represented very good value for money, especially compared to panto.  I was a bit disappointed in the pricing of the Disney merchandise on offer though... the Disney food products were, quite honestly, extortionate but if you looked hard among the sparkly things and soft toys you could find a good memento such as a T-Shirt.

I was certainly impressed enough with the show to be quite excited when someone handed me a leaflet about next Christmas' Disney on Ice show which will be celebrating 100 years of Magic.  I'm also excited about the Easter show - Disney on Ice presents World of Fantasy because it features some of Lara's favourite non-princess characters such as Toy Story, Cars and Tinkerbell so I think it will be a bit less overwhelmingly girly.

Disney on Ice - Dare to Dream

I had been on the lookout for a really magical Christmas show to take my girls to this year - last year we went to the theatre and this year we are going to watch our first ever Disney on Ice extravaganza at the O2 in London - I don't know about Lara and Holly, I'm certainly REALLY excited about the opportunity to be invited along to see the show.

This year's wintery Disney on Ice show is called Dare to Dream.  It combines classics such as Cinderella and Snow White along with the more modern Disney stories of Tangled and the Princess and the Frog, all brought together by Mickey Mouse and his friends.

I think Lara is going to absolutely LOVE bopping to the boogies of Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen in New Orleans. And I'm looking forward to seeing the Seven Dwarfs with Snow White.  Lara is totally obsessed with Disney princesses at present so seeing Rapunzel and Cinderella 'in person' dancing on the ice is going to be a truly magical experience for her.

Disney on Ice Dare to Dream has been touring the country in September and the tour will culminate with a series of shows between Christmas and the 5th January at the O2 in London.  Tickets are on sale via Ticketmaster.
